On Tuesday 10th of June 2014, Miss Stannard’s and
Miss Leftley’s class went to Southwold for the day. When we got there strolled
past the sea wall to the beach to answer some questions in a booklet that got
given to us by the teachers, Miss Leftley told us about why the sea walls had
been built and how the cliffs had been
eroded back by the sea.
After that we walked back the way we came past the
beach huts. Some of the beach huts were
being built, in our booklet we had to write down the 2 favourite names of the
beach huts and make up a name for one of our own beach huts.
Then we walked
back onto the beach the other side of what we had just been on to eat our
lunch. Soon after having our lunch we were allowed to have a paddle in the sea.
We were only allowed up to our knees but some ended up getting soaked by the
waves that splashed up onto them. Then we all got in to our groups to get an
ice – cream for £2.
We had to stay in our groups because we all had to
interview some people saying “What is the purpose of your visit?” and “What
facilities do you use most?” Eventually we all went into town to see what
things are in Southwold. We had to fill in a tally of how many of the same
shops are in Southwold. When we got back out of town we had to go onto the beach
and answer what we could hear, see, smell , feel and touch.
Sadly we had to go
home after a great day out. Thank you to all of the teachers, parents and
helpers for talking us on an awesome day out at Southwold.
